A SUBMERSION INTO SPORTS CULTURE FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS AT OXFORD UNIVERSITY IN THE UK

Oxford’s many principles touch on the importance exercise has on a learning mind. It’s something that can refocus and relax students, positively stimulating the important parts of the brain. The historic city embodies this by providing three sports facilities that are dotted around the city centre.

At these sports facilities, you’ll find they house both serious and relaxed competitions, recreational use of their facilities and many training courses. If students are looking to sink their curiosity into a new sport, Oxford often boasts about their 80 different clubs available.

We’ve all heard about the rivalry between the two best Universities in England, but it’s much more jovial these days. As well to the boat race, they both compete in a Varsity Series, where they’ll go head-to-head in a wide range of sports. Basically, like an Oxbridge Olympics.

SPORTING SUCCESS OF OXFORD ON THE INTERNATIONAL STAGE

  • In the history of the Olympic games, 283 Oxford students have competed, winning a combined number of 167 medals. 84 of them being gold.
  • Made a nationwide event out of a boat race along the River Thames.
  • Is one of the best-ranked universities in the UK for sports.

IMPACT OF OXFORD’S SPORTS CULTURE ON STUDENTS

There’s a huge drive for sports that Oxford wants to instil in its students. Supplying sports in a quick, easy and accessible way, making sure no one’s missing out. There are also many parks brushed around the map, including University Park, for those seeking a more personal exercise.

It’s become quite the mission, but Oxford has ensured that disabilities won’t be a barrier when it comes to sports enjoyment. When they say for all, they mean it. Courtesy of accessibility advisory boards, they ensure sport is for everyone.

As many students as possible will now gain all the benefits. Many say the encouragement into sport improved their creativity and increased the amount of relaxation before they sleep. And we’re all aware all-important shut-eye is paramount to a student’s efficiency.

CONCLUSION

And that’s our drive into Oxford. Hopefully, we’ve been able to convey what you should expect when visiting or debating where you’d like your academic adventure to take you.

This is a very historic city, that doesn’t hide its pride when it comes to the University’s achievements or its alumni. The students are engrossed in the wondrous past of those who have come before and use sport to help them not only have fun but reach their full potential.

There’s a competition to be best on both educational and sporting fronts and it captures the whole ethos of being driven and having fun while you do it.
